PRIVACY POLICY — RANCHASSIST™ CATTLE PROFIT CALCULATOR
Last updated: August 30, 2026
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy describes the data-handling model for the RanchAssist™ Cattle Profit Calculator (the “Calculator”). The Calculator is designed as a standalone, session-first planning tool. It does not require a RanchAssist account and is designed not to permanently store standalone cattle-enterprise project data on RanchAssist servers by default.
This policy applies to the Calculator and the supporting informational pages specifically associated with it. If the Calculator is later connected to additional analytics, authentication, payment, advertising, cloud-storage, or other services, this policy should be updated before or when those services are introduced.
2. Information You Enter
Depending on the enterprise mode you choose, you may enter information such as:
- Project and scenario names
- Head counts
- Purchase weights and values
- Sale weights and prices
- Average daily gain or ownership periods
- Death-loss and shrink assumptions
- Feed, pasture, veterinary, mineral, labor, freight, marketing, financing, and miscellaneous cost assumptions
- Cows exposed, calving rate, weaning survival, calf weight and price, cull revenue, bull cost allocation, and related cow-calf assumptions
- Custom enterprise values
- Notes or scenario assumptions you choose to include
- An email address when you explicitly use an email-sharing feature
You are responsible for deciding what information to enter. Do not enter passwords, banking credentials, tax IDs, API keys, or other sensitive information that is not needed to perform the calculation.
3. Session-First Project Data
The Calculator is designed around a session-first privacy model.
- No user account is required for normal use.
- The Calculator does not rely on a RanchAssist-hosted project database for normal standalone project storage.
- Browser sessionStorage may be used to protect the current active project from accidental refresh or same-tab navigation during the active browser session.
- sessionStorage is not permanent saving and should not be treated as a backup.
- The Calculator is designed not to use localStorage as a substitute for permanent project storage.
Use Save Project when you want to preserve editable work for later use.
4. RanchAssist .ra Project Files
The Calculator can save the complete editable project as a local RanchAssist .ra project file.
The .ra file is a user-controlled local file. It may contain the project name, project UUID, calculator/tool version information, timestamps, scenarios, user-entered assumptions, notes, and other state required to restore the project.
Saving a .ra project file does not, by itself, upload the project to RanchAssist or create RanchAssist cloud storage.
You control where the file is stored, copied, backed up, or shared after it is downloaded to your device.
RanchAssist project files are designed not to contain application API secrets, authentication credentials, or executable code.
5. Opening a Project File
When you select Open Project, the Calculator reads the selected .ra file so it can validate compatibility and restore the editable project. The intended project-file workflow is client-side. Imported project data is recalculated using the current Calculator logic rather than treating old saved derived results as authoritative.
6. Exports
You may choose to create outputs such as:
- CSV files
- Print or PDF reports
- Copied text summaries
- Email summaries
Exports can contain cattle and financial assumptions or calculated results. Once an export is saved, copied, printed, emailed, or shared, it is controlled by the destination you selected and is no longer limited to the active Calculator session.
Review exports before sharing them.
7. Email Sharing
When deployed through Google Apps Script, the Calculator may provide an Email Summary feature using Google Apps Script MailApp.
If you explicitly choose to send an email summary:
- The destination email address and summary content must be processed to deliver the message.
- The email is sent only after your explicit action.
- The Calculator does not require you to provide an email API key or SMTP credential.
- The email recipient and any mail infrastructure involved in delivery may retain the message according to their own systems and policies.
Do not email project information to a recipient unless you intend for that recipient to receive it.
8. Browser and Hosting Information
The Calculator itself is designed around the data practices described above. The underlying website or hosting platform may necessarily process technical request information required to deliver a web page, such as an IP address, browser or device information, timestamps, or server logs.
The exact infrastructure-level logs depend on the deployment environment and hosting provider. This policy does not claim that no technical logs can ever exist at the hosting layer.
9. Cookies and Long-Term Browser Storage
The supplied Calculator architecture does not require user accounts or long-term localStorage project persistence. If future versions introduce cookies, analytics identifiers, advertising technologies, authentication, or similar tracking, this Privacy Policy should be updated to describe those practices.
10. Third-Party Services
The Calculator may rely on third-party infrastructure where needed for hosting or explicit features such as email delivery. Third-party services may process data according to their own terms and privacy practices.
The supplied Calculator does not require end users to provide developer API keys or Mapbox tokens.
11. Data Retention
Project data in the active browser session is intended to be temporary. The Calculator itself does not provide permanent RanchAssist cloud project storage by default.
Retention of user-controlled .ra files, CSV files, PDFs, printed reports, copied summaries, and emails is determined by you and by the systems where you store or send them.
12. Clear Session
Clear Session is designed to remove the active project from the current Calculator session and clear related sessionStorage.
Clear Session does not delete:
- .ra project files already saved to your device
- CSV or PDF files already exported
- Printed reports
- Emails already sent
- Copies stored in unrelated applications or devices
13. Security
RanchAssist uses a design that separates user project state from application secrets. Private API keys and similar credentials should not be stored in project files, browser project storage, reports, URLs, or copied summaries.
No browser-based application can guarantee absolute security. Protect exported project files and reports according to the sensitivity of the information you place in them.
14. Children’s Privacy
The Calculator is a business and agricultural planning utility and is not designed specifically for children. Do not use it to collect or submit personal information about children.
15. Your Choices
You can control the Calculator’s project data by:
- Choosing what information to enter
- Clearing the active session
- Saving or not saving a .ra project file
- Choosing whether to export a report or CSV
- Choosing whether to copy or email a summary
- Deleting saved files from your own device or storage systems
16. Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated as the Calculator, hosting environment, or supporting services change. Material changes should be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date and the policy text.
17. Contact
For privacy questions about the Cattle Profit Calculator, use the Contact & Help page associated with the Calculator.
18. Important Scope Note
This policy describes the intended data model of the supplied RanchAssist Cattle Profit Calculator build. If a deployment owner adds third-party analytics, advertising, authentication, payment processing, cloud persistence, or other services, the deployed site’s privacy disclosures should be reviewed and updated accordingly.
